The Uncle Brothers, Danny Quinn (left) and Tommy Gardner (right) will bring the magic of their children's music to school for a character education based assembly program entitled,

Global Awareness - “Acceptance & Cultural Diversity”
Understanding the differences and similarities in others is a huge building block to helping our children grow up in a world of kindness and acceptance.

This show takes the students on a musical journey to several foreign countries and with humorous bantering even includes many fun facts about far away places. They will hear how life is different for foreign children in school and at home, but will leave with a sense of how “people are people no matter where you go” and that we’re all the same in many ways.

October 24, 2008 * Child's Play Touring Theatre

3rd grade students participated in special writing workshops presented by the Chicago-based Child’s Play Touring Theatre. These in-class workshops were designed to complement classroom studies, and to enhance our childrens’ writing abilities and their understanding of the writing process. Child’s Play will return in the spring to turn our own budding authors' stories and poems into creative works onstage with full costumes, props, and set.

November 19, 2008 * The Fabulous Chinese Acrobats

Wednesday, November 19th, Putnam Valley Elementary School students were treated to a special assembly by the Fabulous Chinese Acrobats. These young performers brought incredible talent to our gym stage in a show filled with color and energy. The acrobats helped our children make fun and memorable connections with China’s rich culture as their interpreter shared facts about Chinese traditions and school life.

We encourage you to ask your child to tell you all about it!

For more information about the group, please visit their website at __http://www.assemblyline.com/chinese-08.html__.

I will have the honor performing Finger Fables to your children on Dec 9th. Engaged by their fingers and faces, they will participate in the telling. They become active listeners through interactive storytelling. It will be fun for the imagination, building pre-writing skills too. I am grateful to the PTA for bringing me back to P.V.E.S. Plus, I love telling tales to kindergartners!

Recently, Jonathan was selected "Best Storyteller in the Hudson Valley" by Hudson Valley Magazine. The New York Times, noting his far ranging work described him as "Westchester’s intrepid storyteller". Kids love his CDs The Rainbow Dragon and Barkface & Rootnose. Plus, his Berger Platters/ Historic Hudson Valley produced recording of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow (with musical effects by Matt Noble), earned a National Association of Parenting Publication Honors Award.
